HMFD May Training

Halfmoon Firefighters had a busy month of training in May, working on auto extrication, apparatus pumping, FAST techniques, and fire prevention activates.

We started the month working on basic auto extrication drills (how to get someone out of a wrecked car). We also worked on fire truck pump practice. On May 16th Firefighters worked on FAST techniques for rescuing trapped Firefighters. FAST Exercises included drags, carries, lifts, and rope hauling systems. On May 23rd Firefighters participated in a real time auto extrication exercise involving 3 cars, 6 simulated victims, a fire, electricity, and a water hazard. We finished the month off with some fire prevention activities at the Temple Baptist Church. Kids and adults participated in an entertaining fire prevention presentation while Firefighters walked through the building to get oriented and review the buildings construction, systems, alarms, and hazards.
