January 2006 Has Been a Busy Month
January has been a busy month for the Halfmoon Fire Department with nearly 50 alarms reported.

On January 28th HMFD responded to a report of a subject who had fallen from a ladder. The patient was evaluated on the scene by HMFD and Waterford Rescue Squad and airlifted by State Police Helicopter to Albany Medical Center. On January 23rd HMFD assisted the Hillcrest FD with a serious MVA on Route 146. HMFD provided air bags to lift an overturned vehicle. On January 18th the area was hit with driving rain which caused local flooding. HMFD pumped basements and assisted with water emergencies throughout the fire district. On January 15th HMFD responded to a reported structure fire on Fonda Road in Waterford. As Firefighters arrived they found a snowmobile on fire with extension to a detached garage. The garage sustained minor damage while the snowmobile was a total loss. On January 11th HMFD responded to a report of a “fire in the wall” Hudson River Road in Halfmoon. Arriving Firefighters found a chimney fire with extension into the surrounding wall.

HMFD Firefighters are looking forward to a quieter February.
