HMFD Ice Rescue 2/20/05

On Sunday, February 20th, 2005, the Halfmoon Fire Department was called to assist with the recovery of an ATV that had gotten stuck in thin ice on the Mohawk River approximately 60 feet from shore. The recovery began at around 5:30pm, with Firefighters locating the ATV and accessing the ATV. It took several attempts to remove the ATV from the river. All HMFD units were back in service by 11:00pm. It was a long evening for Halfmoon Firefighters.

Please use caution when riding ATVs and Snowmobiles on lakes and rivers as the warm weather conditions can cause thin ice and hazardous conditions.
