Halfmoon Firefighters attend Fire Expo in MD
Eight firefighters attended this year’s Fire Expo held on July 27-30 in Baltimore, Maryland. Fire Expo is the largest fire and emergency services event on the east coast and offers unique training opportunities for firefighters. Four firefighters attended three days of classes including a unique Chief’s Leadership program that included the following classes: Reducing Emergency Vehicle Accidents, Performance Measurements for Today’s Chief, Leadership from the Bottom Up and Team Building – The Key to Fire Department Success. The members attending those sessions along with the Professional Information Programs were Chief John Cooper Jr., 1st Asst. Chief Chuck Kuhns, 2nd Asst. Chief Mark Smith and Lieutenant Bob Johnson.

Other professional development classes included: Fireground Orientation - The Key to Firefighter Survival, 10 Most Common Fireground Mistakes and How to Avoid Them, Emergency Vehicle Safety, Engine Operations at Multiple Dwelling Fires, Operational Tactics and Procedures, plus many other courses. These classes were attended by the four firefighters mentioned earlier along with Safety Officer Earl McMahon, Captain Frank Brammer, Lieutenant Jason Polnak and Firefighter Chuck LaFountain.
