Halfmoon is still a hotbed for residential construction, despite the down economy.

The southern Saratoga County town last year issued building permits for 200 units of housing -- more than were issued for all of Schenectady County, according to an analysis of census data from the Capital District Regional Planning Commission.

Halfmoon's 200 units were easily the highest total for any town or city in the region. Brunswick was second with 75 units approved, while Wilton was second with 82 and Glenville, with 69, was third.

The numbers also show how limited residential construction is in Capital Region cities not named Saratoga Springs. Albany, for example, approved just 25 housing units, while Schenectady approved 15 and Troy OK'd 11.
