At 0:00 on Saturday, January 16th the Halfmoon-Waterford Fire District was dispatched to a unknown problem at 1428 Route 9. The first unit on the scene, Car 320, 1st Assistant Chief Jeremy W. Connors, soon realized the unknown problem to be a working structure fire in the residence. Mutual Aid was activated which included West Crescent Fire, Clifton Park Fire, Hillcrest Fire, Boght Fire, and Waterford Fire. The single occupant escaped without injury. The fire was extinguished by 00:55 using less than 500 gallons of water during the initial extinguishment. Another 500 gallons was used during overhaul. The fire believed to have started in the basement damaged some structural members and south exterior wall. The remainder of the first and second floor sustained smoke and water damage. There were no injuries and the structure was turned over to Town of Halfmoon Code Enforcement. We would like to thank all the mutual aid companies that assisted at this incident.
