Our Universal Terrain Vehicle is a 2009 Polaris Ranger with six wheel drive. The UTV has a brush unit with 100 gallon tank and pump mounted in the bed. There is a front mounted winch for vehicle stabilization, debris removal, and in the unfortunate event of the UTV becoming stuck while on a mission. The brush unit has a location to mount the stokes basket with a patient on top of the unit. The UTV responds with EMS equipment, AED, and a stokes basket for off road accidents or medical emergencies. It responds with a full tank of water, hose, and hand tools for brush fires. Several of our members have received specialized training to operate the UTV through Tom Ashmore Enterprises. Tom and his staff operates a veteran owned and operated training facility specially designed for UTV basic and advanced training. With the numerous pedestrian trails, sand and gravel pits, and other areas with limited access this apparatus with undoubtedly save lives and property throughout its service life. The Town of Halfmoon and the Halfmoon-Waterford Fire District would like to thank Senator Bruno and the NYS Senate for the grant assistance which made this purchase possible. |
