Please join us for the Town of Halfmoon 9/11 Cermony on Thursday September 11th, 2008 at 6:30 PM to honor the victims of 9/11/01. The ceremony will take place accross the street from the Town Justice Building at the 9/11 Memorial in the Abele Memorial Park. The public is invited to take part in prayer and reflection. On Saturday, September 27, 2008 the Halfmoon Fire Company will be holding our 2nd Annual Poker Run. Registration is from 9 AM to 11 AM. BLOOD DRIVE - AUGUST 29, 2008 - 1 PM TO 6 PM
American Red Cross New York-Penn Blood Services RegionOn Friday, August 29. 2008 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM the Halfmoon Fire Department with be hosting a Blood Drive at our Fire House on 315 Middletown Road, Waterford, NY 12188. FIRE PREVENTION: PETUSKE'S FARM STAND
7/26/2008, the Halfmoon Fire Department provided a fire prevention display at the Petuske's Farm Stand on Halfmoon Drive. The event allowed residents and their families visiting the stand to speak with our firefighters and learn more about fire prevention at their home. Click to view more photos.


MVA: MIDDLETOWN ROAD @ HARRIS ROAD
7/23/2008, The Halfmoon Fire Department was called to a three car on MVA at Middletown Road and Harris Road. There was one patient with minor injuries. HMFD assisted with traffic control and checking the vehicles for leaking fluids. Click to view more photos.


DRILL: PUMP OPERATIONS
7/22/2008, for the Tuesday night drill the Halfmoon Fire Department worked with our firefighters and line officers on pump and hose operations. The evolution included drafting water with ER-322 from the Mohawk River at Alkathy's and feeding ETA-323. ETA 323 had a portable monitor and a hand line running. While some members were getting instruction and skills practice on pumping others received hose and monitor operation training. Click to view more photos.


EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATIONS COURSE (EVOC)
7/15/2008, for the Tuesday night drill the Halfmoon Fire Department participated in an emergency vehicle operation course at the Waterford-Halfmoon School. This NFPA approved driving course provided our firefighters practice driving our apparatus in many different situations that they may encounter when responding to emergencies. Our seasoned veterans and some of our new firefighters had the opportunity to drive the course in three different pieces of apparatus (ER-322 (Engine Rescue), ETA-323 (Engine Tanker Apparatus), and M-326). HMFD TOURS THE TOWN OF HALFMOON WATER TREAMENT PLANT
5/13/2008, for the Tuesday night drill the Halfmoon Fire Department visited the Town of Halfmoon Water Treatment Plant on Brookwood Road. These drills are essential to better understand the facilities in the Fire District in the event of an emergency.

The Director of Water and also our 1st Assistant Chief Frank Tironi, Jr. lead the tour. He discussed the layout of the building, hazardous materials, the plant fail safe devices, and the general plant operations.


WORKING APARTMENT FIRE – 34 HAYNER HEIGHTS ROAD
4/21/2008, at 03:23 the Halfmoon Fire Department responded to a working structure fire at 34 Hayner Heights Rd, in the Town of Halfmoon.

Initial reports indicated that an occupant was trapped in the fully involved structure. With the Saratoga County Sheriff’s department on the scene, who quickly investigated the report of an occupant trapped, reported all residents were accounted for soon after our units arrived. MUTUAL AID BRUSH FIRE WITH HILLCREST FIRE DEPARTMENT – UPPER NEWTOWN ROAD
4/19/2008, at 12:40 the Halfmoon Fire Department responded to a mutual aid brush fire with the HillCrest FD on Upper Newtown Rd.

With no way of getting a vehicle into the field, firefighters made their way in on ATV’s with Indian Tanks and Brush Trucks. Access to the fire was up the old Erie canal bed on the east side of the field. Firefighters were hampered by the wind which caused the fire to jump the fire line and continue to burn north in the field.  With extensive overhaul, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. WORKING GARAGE FIRE – ROUTE 9
4/1/2008
, at 23:53 the Halfmoon Fire Department responded to a working garage fire on Route 9 in the town of Halfmoon.  The garage was used for a body shop and there were 10 vehicles burning, some inside and some outside the structure.

Units from West Crescent, Clifton Park, Hillcrest and a fast team from Boght Community Fire Departments (FD) assisted on scene.  Waterford Village FD was on stand-by at our Station 1. Read the complete story with more photos.
